Buttery Caramel-Drizzled Apple Pie Bars with Cinnamon Streusel
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 large apples, peeled and diced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/3 cup caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup brown sugar until smooth.
3. Add flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt. Stir until a soft dough forms.
4. Press two-thirds of the dough firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
5. In a separate bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, remaining brown sugar, and cornstarch. Spread over crust.
6. Drizzle caramel sauce evenly across the apples.
7. Mix the remaining dough with oats and pecans. Crumble over the top to create a streusel layer.
8. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling around the edges.
9. Allow to cool fully before slicing into bars and adding extra caramel drizzle if desired.
